The Conflict Ledger

The Conflict Ledger is what happens when a newsroom invites Google’s NotebookLM to pull up a chair, grab a highlighter, and help connect the dots in an information war in real-time conflicts. It’s all part of a bigger editorial experiment project, testing what’s possible when journalists, editors, and generative AI including Canva AI Studio, Sora etc work side by side to understand how conflicts around the world get framed, reframed, and fed to the public.

Because in the war for perception, curiosity is the best defence.

⚠️ Content Warning: This episode contains themes of political violence, multiple instances of military coups and mutiny (specifically the 2009 coup and the 2025 CAPSAT intervention), widespread human rights abuses including the security forces’ use of unlawful and excessive force, resulting in the killing of at least 22 civilian protesters and the injury of over 100 people, systemic corruption and political oppression of the poor, extreme poverty and severe economic hardship (including the cost-of-living crisis, widespread unemployment, and basic utility shortages), and resource exploitation (including the illegal logging of rosewood in national parks).
